Classical Ballet of Mobile Academy

Superb classical training for dancers age 6 - 19

The Academy is where students ages 6 - 19 begin learning the fundamentals of traditional classical ballet, including proper posture, placement, technique, and artistic expression. The Academy is the progression of dance education following Petite Dancer studies.

Each Academy level features at least one “required” class each week to ensure commitment from students who could soon be cast in upcoming performances.

Class schedules are subject to change at any time.

Level 1: technique classes to foster a love of the classical art, establish a foundational recognition of basic ballet terminology, improve balance and dexterity, as well as self-discipline and respect

Level 2: technique classes to foster a love of the classical art, reinforce the foundational recognition of basic ballet terminology, discover the body’s center of rotation and balance, and solidify self-discipline and respect

Level 3: technique classes to reinforce the fundamentals of ballet along with a footwork-focused class to strengthen arches and ankles in preparation for pointe work in future dance training

Level 4: multiple technique and pointe classes to reinforce proper alignment, continued strengthening of the lower body, and command of the body on and off pointe

Level 5: multiple technique and pointe classes to propel dancers into a pre-professional mindset, encouraging auditioning for the Company.

Progressing Ballet Technique: a 55 minute revolutionary conditioning program that uses exercise balls, resistance bands, and focused movements to develop a dancer’s strength, alignment, and muscle memory. This class targets core stability, hip alignment, turnout control, and safe flexibility, making it the perfect complement to ballet training.

  • Ideal for dancers of all levels, PBT helps students understand the “why” behind each movement, giving them the tools to improve posture, balance, and control—both in and out of the studio.

    • Recommended for: Ballet students ages 8 and up, pre-pointe and pointe students, and dancers looking to enhance technique and prevent injury.

    • What’s needed: Yoga mat, Therabands, small Pilates ball, and fit ball (size based on height).

    • What to bring: Yoga mat and Therabands

CURRICULUM

ACADEMY 1

• 1 Ballet – 1 hr (Required)

• 1 Stretch & Strength for Young Dancers – 1 hr (Optional)

Total Required Hours: 1 hr

ACADEMY 2

• 2 Ballet Classes – 2 hrs (Required)

• 1 Stretch & Strength for Young Dancers – 1 hr (Optional)

Total Required Hours: 2 hrs

ACADEMY 3

• 2 Ballet Classes – 2 hrs 45 min

• 1 Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) – 1 hr

• 1 Conditioning – 45 min

• 1 Pre-Pointe – 1 hr

• 1 Contemporary – 1 hr (Optional but required for Company participation)

Total Required Hours: 5.5 hrs

ACADEMY 4

• 3 Ballet Classes – 3 hrs 45 min

• 1 PBT – 1 hr

• 1 Conditioning – 45 min

• 2 Pointe Classes – 1.5 hrs

• 1 Variations – 1 hr

• 1 Contemporary – 1 hr

Total Required Hours: 9 hrs

ACADEMY 5

• 3 Ballet Classes – 3.5 hrs

• 1 PBT – 1 hr

• 1 Conditioning – 45 min

• 2 Pointe Classes – 1 hr 45 min

• 1 Variations – 1 hr

• 1 Contemporary – 1 hr

Total Required Hours: 9.25 hrs

*Academy 5 Students may also register for Academy Level 4 ballet and pointe classes.

RETURNING STUDENT

Returning students are invited to enroll through our Parent Portal. For specific questions about enrollment or uniforms, please contact academy@classicalballetmobile.org.

NEW STUDENT

Come dance with us! Tell us about your dancer and our Executive Director will personally respond to you with a recommendation for a placement class.

TUITION

Multi-class discounts are available on a sliding scale.

Dancers are required to provide 30 days’ notice in writing to withdraw from CBM enrollment.
